This lovely portrait of a Peruvian Paso horse, named Solecita, and her owner in traditional garb (riding side sadde!) was a lot of fun to do. When I saw the original photograph I really wanted to paint this portrait. It give me such joy to paint portraits of horses and their owner, and this one was a little bitter sweet, as Solecita is no longer with us on this Earth. I can tell that she was a really sweet and gentle horse, and I felt privileged to create a portrait of her.

I often do portraits of horse and rider, or multiple horses. Portraits are a bit of a dying breed and you would be surprised at how cherished they are.
